Pöyry Awarded Contract for an Environmental and Social Impact Study and Resettlement and Compensation Action Plan between Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo
The Governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia have agreed to strengthen their existing power co-operation by among others, constructing the Kolwezi-Solwezi interconnector (an approximately 190km long 330/400 kV line from the town of Kolwezi in DRC to the district of Solwezi in Zambia). For this a complete Feasibility Study for the Kolwezi – Solwezi interconnector up to the Bankable stage (done by another Consultant) and an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan needs to be carried out.
The scope of the assignment covers an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) study and a Resettlement and Compensation Action Plan (RCAP) to a bankable level according to the two countries legislation and requirements of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The Pöyry team, member of RES4Africa, will be supported by local experts from our local sub consultant and will work closely with Zesco (Zambia side) and SNEL (DRC side) counterpart staff.
