The role of renewable energies: opportunities for global growth and investments in emerging economies
11 May 2018
Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
The workshop is a result of a long-established cooperation between RES4MED&Africa and the Italian Ministry Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and is directed to a selected group of Ministry diplomats. The aim is to provide participants with an overview of the increasingly important role that renewable energy sources play in Italian economic diplomacy, from the perspective of some of the most important operators in the sector.
As remarked by the Sustainable Development Goal 7 of the UN Agenda 2030 and by the Strategia Energetica Nazionale Italiana 2017, the topics of energy security and diversification of energy requirements are of national and global interest. In this context, renewable energies play an ever increasingly important role, and are now universally recognized as key enablers to the sustainable development of markets and policies of emerging countries, in particular for the Southern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan African regions.
