MGA – May 2019 Session

May 2019 – Nairobi, Kenya

The Micro-Grid Academy held its sixth training session in Nairobi, Kenya, from 6th to 11th of May, with a course named “East African Regional Training Course on Mini-Grids: From Design to Integration of productive uses through the Water-Energy-Food Nexus”.

The course was organized by the consolidated partnership of RES4Africa, St. Kizito VTI, KPLC, Strathmore University, AVSI Foundation, EACREEE and supported by Enel Foundation.

The training gathered 52 attendees from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Canada and Italy, while more than 100 applications were received. Highly qualified participants gave precious contributions to the training – among them Tesla, Practical Action, Safaricom, Jumeme, Oxfam and many others. Globally, over 80% of the participants were already employed in the energy field.

During the course the group visited:

  • The hybrid mini-grid in the village of Kitonyoni, Makueni County (one-day trip);
  • Schneider Electric factory in Nairobi;
  • The United Nations Headquarter in Nairobi.
