RES4Africa Foundation will host a presentation of its 2019 Flagship Publication “Africa’s Future Counts: Renewables and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus” as a side event to the UN Climate Action Summit at Columbia University in New York on 23 September 2019.
Developed in collaboration with Enel Foundation, “Africa’s Future Counts” is the second of a series of annual features that focus on strategic perspectives and themes for Africa’s sustainable energy future. This edition looks at how the WEF Nexus reveals opportunities to overcome Africa’s energy access gaps offering an innovative perspective on bridging the energy access gap by emphasizing the interdependencies between water, energy and food supply systems and considering energy as an enabler for development. During the event, the findings of the publication will be highlighted and discussed with the audience.
The publication was first presented to the public during the RES4Africa Annual Conference in June in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, followed by a launch in July in Rome; the New York event represents the third official presentation, held in a third continent. Through this particular event, organized in the context of the 2019 United Nations Climate Action Summit, RES4Africa Foundation aims to offer its contribution to the global discussion on climate action by highlighting the role that the renewable energy sector can play to drive sustainable development and achieve progress on the SDGs by 2030.
The event counts on free admission and a hard copy of “Africa’s Future Counts” will be available for participants.
