The 3rd edition of the Micro-Grid Academy “on-tour session” in Ethiopia took place from 25th -29th November 2019 at the Addis Ababa University. It was organised in partnership with Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) and supported by the Enel Foundation. This was the 8th training session since the inception of the Micro-Grid Academy.
The theoretical and practical training on Renewable energies for agribusiness development was centred on the actualization of the ongoing nexus projects in the country for productive uses. The 42 MGA participants were selected based on their involvement in those projects and came mainly from AICS, Ministry of Women and Children, Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU), IFAD, COOPI, CEFA, AAIT and the AAU Energy Research Centre. The training specifically addressed the need assessment and the development of business model solutions.
Participants had a chance to gain a hand-on experience during the 2-day field visit at St-Luke Catholic Hospital in Wolliso, where Enel Green Power, in collaboration CUAMM donated a photovoltaic generation system and a battery storage to overcome recurrent blackouts in the region.
