Disruptive Technologies for Africa
Africa is embracing technological disruption in a way that sets it apart from other continents, as it is rapidly embracing the digital revolution to accelerate development and innovation. This has had tangible benefits for African trade, employment, society and much more. A prevailing part of this whirling process consists in digitalisation which, in addition to deep changes in all the sectors and activities of the African societies, is producing major breakthroughs in the energy sector.
Although North African countries have been greatly investing in renewable energy sources (wind and solar), yet greening the transportation sector is still at an embryonic stage. Ambitious policies and economic stimuli are required to ensure a fast transition to electric vehicles and a roll-out of charging infrastructure to support this process.
RES4Africa considers energy digitalisation a pivotal theme: therefore, it is organizing a series of webinars, dedicated to manifold declinations and best practices, as well as to stimulate discussion and arise awereness among African stakeholders.
The fourth one, Shaping the Smart and Sustainable Energy Infrastructure for the Future of Africa, will be carried out online on the 24th of June 2021, from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm CEST.
